HYLF Read to Succeed
The HYLF Read to Succeed program is at David G. Burnet Elementary School (HISD). For approximately one hour, every-other-Friday during the school year, HYLA volunteers come to the school to read to the five third-grade classrooms. The goal of the program is to help young students understand the importance of reading and how reading is imperative to success in school and in life. If a student cannot read on grade level by the third grade, the likelihood of a high school graduation is greatly diminished. For this reason, HYLF created this reading initiative, consistent with our foundation mission to children’s education. Interested in being a volunteer, please contact Michael Clinton.
