Who we are

Enhancing the quality of life

The Houston Young Lawyers Foundation was created in 1992 to support the charitable programs of young lawyers in Harris County. The Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality and availability of legal aid, health, human welfare, and education services provided by Greater Houston nonprofit organizations through targeted volunteering and grants, while building leadership capability through a deeper appreciation of giving.

what we do

HYLF’s mission is to improve the quality and availability of legal aid, health, human welfare, and education. Through events and programs, we raise funds to support local charities that give back to the community in ways that further this mission. Through its Grant Program and Adopt-an-Angel Program, HYLF donates $350,000 a year toward these remarkable causes.

About

whY HYLF?

HYLF is indeed a great way for young lawyers—and those young at heart—to give back and make a difference in Houston and the surrounding communities. Lawyers who get involved in HYLF can rest assured that their contributions will be put towards great causes and issues that are important to lawyers like them.

Fellows

HOW WE DO IT

HYLF is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of young lawyers who volunteer their time to the organization. The Board organizes programs & events each year to raise money for HYLF’s Grant Program. HYLF Fellows assist in this endeavor by contributing both their money & time to HYLF & its programs. Apart from the Grant Program is HYLF’s Adopt-an-Angel Program which raises money for impoverished children.

Recognize & Support

The Fellows of the Houston Young Lawyers
Foundation was established in 1998. Its purpose is twofold: (1) to recognize outstanding members of Houston’s legal community, and (2) to support the charitable efforts of Houston’s young lawyers. Each year, the HYLF Board of Trustees nominate as Fellows select individuals who have demonstrated an exemplary personal commitment to Houston’s Young Lawyers and who are dedicated to the practice of law and the cause of justice.

HYLF’s community impact

For over 25 years, HYLF has assisted local charities with furthering their outreach in the community. As an organization and with the support of our Fellows, we are bringing together the legal community and focusing on the areas of health, human welfare, education, and legal aid. Our organization will continue highlighting these areas and eagerly look forward to fulfilling the mission and vision of HYLF.
